Apex Legends
Since 2024, I have I served as a UX Designer with Respawn on Apex Legends, a first person Battle Royale shooter set in the Titanfall universe. With Respawn, I helped ship numerous amounts of content for Apex Legends over the span of four seasons and counting, including everything from new Legends & Game Modes to menus, Quality of Life changes, and general improvements to the overall user experience seen in Apex Legends.
Listed below is some of the work I have done for a variety of shipped features on Apex Legends, including the newest Legend: Sparrow.
Apex Legends: Sparrow
Released in Season 25 ("Prodigy"), Sparrow is the latest and greatest addition to the roster of playable characters (Legends) featured in Apex Legends.
For Sparrow, I provided several wireframes & mockup designs for this Legend's Passive, Tactical, and Ultimate abilities, as well as design direction for Sparrow's final interface elements and general gameplay feel.
Apex Legends: Weapons
I have had the opportunity to work on some of the various weapons seen in Apex Legends, as well as features heavily related to some of the weapons & the combat experiences desired from them.
Apex Legends: Lifeline Revived
Lifeline was the first Legend I worked on, with primary focus being on a rework to her abilities. I provided wireframes & design direction to help build out these new abilities, and communicate them effectively to an audience that was only familiar with the Legend's old abilities.
Apex Legends: Prize Tracker
One of the very first things I worked on when joining Respawn was the complete redesign of the Prize Tracker menu tab that appears during active events within Apex Legends.
I provided wireframes and a functional prototype of the Prize Tracker while working with Respawn's product team to ensure that the designs not only met their requirements, but the requirements needed for improved navigation and communication to players about the revised tracker.
Apex Legends: Game Modes
I worked on a variety of game modes for Apex Legends, such as Quads, Big Team Deathmatch, and Trios Revival. Each new game-mode presented unique design challenges that required consistent UX consideration to help alleviate.
I provided several wireframes, game-mode specific user flows, and general design direction for each proposed game-mode I was assigned.
Apex Legends: HUD & QoL Features
With each new Season delivered, Apex Legends featured a number of updates to existing features, Legends, game-modes, etc that required UI/UX input and design.
In addition to brand new core features, I provided UX Design & direction for a variety of QoL/feature updates for Apex Legends throughout each new season shipped, such as updates to the game's HUD, store menus, and general gameplay elements.
