Apex Legends: Game Modes
Though it is primarily known for its "Trios" standard battle royale mode, Apex Legends now features a plethora of different game modes on offer, as well as rotated in and out with each new season and event. I had the opportunity to work on some of these new game modes, which you can learn more about via the links below.
Quads
Quads was one of the first Limited Time game modes I worked on for Apex Legends. As the name suggests, this mode took the standard Trios mode and added a fourth player to the equation.
While it may not seem like much to add just one more player to the regular mode, this addition required decent UX consideration/design as Apex was not originally built to support more than three players for its standard BR mode. I provided wireframes & game-mode specific user flows to help bring Quads to fruition.
Trios Revival
A unique spin on the standard Trios BR mode, Trios Revival incorporated a new respawning system into the mix, which allowed for a more forgiving approach to how deaths and respawning were handled; in Revival, everyone gets the chance to respawn after death, until a certain point (with some caveats), whereas in standard BR you would have to wait for a teammate to revive you.
I provided wireframes, mockups and design direction for the Trios Revival limited-time game mode.
Big Team Deathmatch
As its name would suggest, Big Team Deathmatch was a limited-time game mode I worked on that increased the overall playercount for the standard Team Deathmatch mode; from two teams of six players, to two teams of twelve players.
I provided design direction and game mode user-flows to help asses any and all considerations for increasing the player count, and ultimately ship Big Team Deathmatch to a positive player reception.
